Description
This is the second version of my chalk-and-pencil piece "Mobile Home". I decided that a picture this fanciful has to have a story behind it, so I wrote one in rhyme and placed it beneath the image.
Because the picture size here is so small, I've added the rhyme below so you can read it (it shows up fine when the picture is printed full-size):
*Once I came across a house that, near as I could tell,
Was the only house in all the world built on a tortoise shell.
A wizard lived inside the house. He seemed so wise to me.
He asked me in to have a chat and share a pot of tea.
"My tortoise takes me everywhere," he said to me. "I'm bound
To learn new things and see new sights by traveling town to town."
"But a tortoise is so slow," I said. "Why go so slow a pace?"
"Wisdom, child," the wizard said, "cannot be gained in haste."*
